As we draw closer to the end of the 2024 season, the SWHL Committee invites you to prepare for a strong and enjoyable 2025 competition season with us.

In 2025 the SWHL Committee will be focused on 4 key areas to deliver a competitive, inclusive, respectful and enjoyable centralised hockey competition for women.

2025 SWHL Planning Meeting
When: Monday 23 September 2024, 7.30pm
Where: Eva Redfern Lounge (above pitch 2) Sydney Olympic Park Hockey Centre
Who: Maximum of 2 representatives from each opens club /masters association (excluding SWHL Committee members)
Bring: Feedback from your club in person and/or via email regarding the topics detailed below. 

We will focus on 4 key areas in 2025 to provide the best possible experience for players, coaches, officials and administrators. While there is a long list for our attention, we invite you to discuss and explore with us, the priority areas which we have italicised below:

a.      Strong competition base – Quality, inclusive, sustainable
                           i.      Format – promotion/relegation; numbers of teams; season duration; SF/F/GF/other; flexible registrations; length of games; scheduling; deferrals 
                         ii.      Facilities
                       iii.      Enjoyable, inclusive, respectful and competitive experience 
b.      Strong Clubs – Identity & Sustainability
                           i.      Affordability – Fees; Endorsed officials capped rate scale 
                         ii.      Integrity – Conditions of Play
                       iii.      Growth  and accessibility – player and team numbers; ‘super’ clubs;  linked Clubs
                       iv.      Identity – Derby days 
c.      Strong Pathways – Development
                          i.      Players – minimum age; targeted divisions (development focused)
                         ii.      Officials – club identification of umpires and incentives 
d.      Governance – succession planning; broader responsibility 
                          i.      cross grade involvement
                         ii.      club representation / delegation consultation / voice


We encourage you to reflect on these key areas with your club members and be ready to share your thoughts about:

•       where you see opportunity for improvement
•       how your club can contribute
